Negotiation skills 'vital' for hospitals
Negotiation training could help hospitals prepare for the future
Strong negotiation skills are vital for the future of hospitals,
it has been claimed.
As public spending cuts begin to take effect, hospitals will
need to be able to negotiate the best possible deals to ensure
their long-term viability.
Lisa Miller, president of US cost analysis firm VIE Healthcare,
claimed good negotiation skills can make a big difference to
revenues.
She told newsbythesecond.com: "We are very aware of the dramatic
difference hospital negotiation skills can mean to an
organisation's overall costs.
"We have seen first hand in our cost analysis environment what
negotiation skills training and coaching can do for
organisations."
VIE Healthcare has formed a partnership with Camp Negotiation
Systems to run negotiation training workshops for the US healthcare
industry.
Participants in the scheme can learn how to run their hospital
in a more cost-effective manner by reducing non-essential labour
costs and ensuring good procurement strategies are in place.
