The subtle power which exists between subordinate and boss is that of dependency. Each relationship tends to be unique, so it is difficult to generalise in these cases; however the level of dependency within this working relationship typically serves to determine the balance of power and the scope for negotiation. 

Internal negotiations can often be the most challenging undertaken, with important relationships at stake the number of tactics you can employ narrow as do your options, which makes this form of negotiation appear difficult. Issues which often require internal negotiations include dispute resolution, managing changes, resource allocation, budgets, project management and a multitude of others.
